I just got off the phone with the technician on call this evening (Tuesday, 11/27/07). I think his name was Michael, but frankly I was so anxious and frustrated and annoyed that I may not be remembering correctly. I came home to a chilly house and knew immediately the heat was off for some reason. I called the 800 number and received a return call within 5 minutes. Michael walked me through relighting the pilot light after we figured out that was the problem. It wasn't easy- my descriptions and his were a little different, but he was very patient. I even had to send a picture via cell phone! This was by far one of the best examples of customer service I've ever received. I am so grateful that he was on the other end of the line tonight.

Your service man, Paul, was exactly on time, and went right to work. Paul was very much a gentleman and seemed to me to be very capable and on all of the tree types of heating units used there. These included a natural gas forced air furnace in the meeting hall, a natural gas boiler in the basement of the rectory, and an oil fired forced air furnace in the basement of the church.

Paul's personality was presented with a real challenge when he was faced with the church furnace. This furnace is located in a small crowded pit an oversized, wet, dark, crawl space, with a cold and wet floor in the pit. I was very impressed with this patience, perseverance, and pleasant demeanor while working in such an unpleasant environment. He went right ahead with all of the cleaning, testing, and adjustments, without any of the griping, complaining, whining, and bad attitudes I have seen when other people have been presented with such unpleasant environmental situations.

I was especially impressed that Paul apparently went above and beyond where all of the former technicians had gone by doing a smoke test. I say this because there was considerable soot in the outlet chamber of the furnace and there was no hole in the exhaust pipe for the test instrument. 9Also, the outlet adapter plate bolts were quite difficult to access due to the very close quarters, and the bolts were rusted.) Nevertheless Paul cleaned out the soot and adjusted the flame and air (twice) until the test was very satisfactory.

In addition, Paul changed, at my request, the oil filter which required additional kneeling with his lower trouser legs in the cold water. Still all without complaining. (The filter can seemed to me to be rusting out due to dampness.)

Prior to retiring, I worked for the better park of 40 years at the Gleason works, much of the time directing the activities of technicians and assemblers. Based upon what I saw in the several hours Paul and I were together on Monday, I would recommend Paul as being a real keeper!

I would just like to say that we were very impressed with every aspect of your team's commitment to excellence. Your sales Manager Robert Houle went beyond his duties to help get our parts that were needed to get us up and running. The tech Sulli was also very good. He has thought originally that when he first looked at our furnace that we may need a blower motor after removing and cleaning he said that the motor looked okay. That saved us $248 plus labor. That type of integrity is hard to find these days. I will buy my next furnace from you folks when mine finally goes. I would like to take this opportunity to let you know what a great employee, Nicki Lawrence is for your company. I called yesterday to initiate a service call for what I thought was a faulty thermostat that needed to be replaced. I explained to Nicki what the problem was and that I had changed the batteries, but it still would not come on. Nicki inquired if I had pressed the reset button and I sad, "no, what button?" She explained to me where it was and what to do. I came home last night and sure enough the thermostat is now working! Other companies in the area would not have told me what to try but would have sent a service person out to my house and charged me a service call for what was a problem I could easily fix myself! I appreciate Nicki's helpfulness! She does a great job of representing your company. I am gong to make sure that I tell everyone of the outstanding service I received from Interstate!!
